Axel De Coster

Blog Redacteur en Assistant Faculty   |   PT., Dip. MT, Dip. MDT.

Axel graduated from the physiotherapy school of Charleroi (Haute-Ecole Condorcet) in June 2016.
He completed his physiotherapy degree with a diploma in manual therapy in 2018.
He also followed several courses in communication, motivational interviewing, and pathoanatomical
diagnosis of the lumbar spine and shoulder. Axel is also the first physiotherapist in Wallonia to have
the international diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (Dip. MDT), which he completed in
2023. He currently works in a private practice close to the Charleroi Airport.

He is particularly interested in spinal disorders, especially in finding the balance in integrating
patho-anatomical diagnoses in the biopsychosocial model of care. He also likes to be on the other
side of the BPS model by reading a lot about persistent pain and how we can help patients with centrally
dominant pain mechanisms.

He is now assistant faculty for the McKenzie Institute Belgium, which enables him to assist senior
instructors during courses, and he also presents Peer Reviews and conferences for the Institute. Axel
also writes articles for the Institute’s blog regularly.
